A collection of Six Flags from Liz Pearce

Hi
Liz Pearce from New Zealand here.
I have completed my prayer flags for the season of Lent.

I always used donated or recycled materials for my prayer flags.
I have even used clear plastic bags and these proved quite effective.
I would encourage readers to make a prayer flag using whatever is at hand ... don't make excuses.
Use found materials - paper, plastic, fabric, weed-matting ... go wild!
Use a glue stick or glue gun, if you can't find a needle and thread.
Use a felt pen and simply draw or write.
Let the prayer flag be messy ... loose threads can add texture and meaning.
Don't wait for 'good ideas' ... any piece of art that considers others makes the world a better place for each of us.
Don't judge or compare your flag with others ... you are a wonderful and unique you ... let it shine through your creation.

And enjoy the process!!!!

Liz

Blessings in the Wind

Hi
Liz Pearce in New Zealand.

I am coming to the end of my year-long one-prayer-flag-a -day project.
I thought I would finish with a series of prayer flags, reflecting the Christian season of Lent.
This means extending my commitment for a few weeks but it seems a fitting conclusion.
I have learnt much about myself and my creativity during this year
but, most of all, I have come to love this world and those who inhabit it a little bit more.
Making a daily prayer flag, rich in blessing, is a powerful tool for growing compassion.

Cheers
Liz Pearce

300 flags 300 blessings

Today I created and hung my 300th prayer flag  ... one prayer flag a day.

300 blessings ...
joining with hundreds and thousands of blessings carried on the breath of LOVE.

300 opportunities ...
to create
to pause
to reflect
to meditate
to stitch
to connect with another
to reduce
to consider the essence
to drink of the fountain of the wisdom of poets, writers, musicians, artists
to belong
to console

300 days where I knew I was...
loved
human
co-creative

May these 300 blessings join with all gestures of goodwill ...
invigorating and enlivening and inspiring and blessing our world.

Unity

Liz Pearce writes
"Today I had the privilege to be a part of a special occasion. I participated in a liturgy in a residential home. An over-riding theme was unity  and I introduced prayer flags as my morning meditation and as a prayer form from another culture. I spoke to each of five flags in turn and then hung them across the main desk.
There they will bless all who pass: staff, residents and visitors alike.
All can pause and spend time meditating on the accompanying thoughts.

Prayer flags have become an intrinsic part of my day now.  I have been making them for over 150 days now and they are as normal for me as brushing my teeth or walking the dog."

A flag a day for a year

A huge welcome to Liz Pearce of New Zealand. She writes "In March this year, I read an article about The Prayer Flag Project. Its simplicity; its compassion; its power to heal, all appealed to me. I decided to commit to making one prayer flag a day for a year. Here is a record of my humble efforts. Often they reflect events in my own life. I hope they bring blessings to yours."
