For this weeks Flag Friday we wanted to share a couple of links to stories about Prayer Flags being made for Nepal that we thought might be inspirational.

Prayer Flags from Norway

 Veronique is a teacher in Norway who shares with us some of the flags created by her pupils.

It is an ongoing project that she has been doing for the last 2 to 3 years.

The themes have included Peace, and a look at attitudes that create a good atmosphere in and out of the classroom.

Healing Gift

These flags were made by a group of friends as a healing gift supporting a friend.  It is not the first special set I (Linda Miller) have organized, but this one had extra meaning for me, as the recipient is one of my dearest friends. I was happy to be a part of this gift of love.  See more about the process of these flags on my post.

Jane LaFazio here. This weekend, Thanksgiving weekend, my friends and I spent the weekend at  J&J Ranch for our annual get-together. Our hosts have a fabulous studio, and were happy to let me lead the project. Everyone participated, and it took less than 2 hours.




I did some pre-preparation at home, beforehand. 

I torn a long strip of fabric, 13" high , then pinned a 3 inch hem.

I sewed the hem on the whole strip.

Using a rotary cutter, I cut the flags into 5" panels

Quickly created 17 flags, each finished to 5x8"

 

 






We had acrylic paint, brushes, stencils and fabric markers for everyone to use.
   
Once the flags were finished, we took turns sharing the meaning, affirmation, wish that our flag was meant to  convey, then strung them together on heavy string.


 The guys hung the flags.
